(Our news channels&#039; opinion polls, and quiz and reality shows make a &lt;em&gt;packet&lt;/em&gt; on these. And of course they never tell us that when they encourage us to SMS in. Most people think it costs them the same as an ordinary SMS; a buck standard, or less if one is on a special plan.) 

An international SMS from India costs five bucks.

Methinks them 240 mn Indian mobile phone users will be welcomed with open arms. :)</description>

Checked with my service provider - Reliance, they are charging under &quot;special messages&quot; - Rs. 3 per message.
