“The sun shines not on us but in us. The rivers flow not past, but through us, thrilling, tingling, vibrating every fiber & cell of the substance of our bodies, making them glide and sing.” John Muir
My best friends - a couple I’ve known since my childhood days - are going through probably one of the most turbulent phases in their lives right now. Yesterday I found myself in separate conversations with them, both almost negotiating around the tugs of guilt and blame; love, failure and loneliness; remorse about the past and fragile around an uncertain future. Emotionally drained with symptoms of really low self-esteem.
Just believe. No one and nothing can change that face in the mirror without your permission.

We we tidying up the basement this week and Robin found some old letters written when I was in the midst of a full blown mid life crisis about 10 years ago. Somehow we survived this - many don’t.
A great outcome though is that at this stage in my life it is all but impossible to judge another. We are all frail and at some point the pain of our early lives breaks out and affects the life we have today. It looks on the surface that it is all about today - but in most cases it is the result of old wounds that re open.
As hard as it is - what is needed is more love
I was very fortunate that Robin was able to give this - all the best to your friends Dina
yours Rob
Thank you for sharing your own story so openly Rob - you’re an inspiration to all of us. In your fragility is a lot of strength and the love you share with Robin seems to be the bond. My warmest biggest hug to you both!
