d-small.jpg Dina is a founder and Managing Director of Mosoci India. With a  Master’s Degree in Sociology and a background in anthropology and psychology, she has spent twenty years specializing in qualitative research and ethnography. She is at the forefront of technology trend research in India and works with a global portfolio of companies; including learning journeys, and immersions for innovation teams. Dina brings her unique perspective to understanding the emerging social aspects of new technology and the impact of new media on youth and mobility.

Dina is based in Mumbai, India, with 20 years of experience in the field of qualitative research and ethnography. She set up Explore Research & Consultancy in 1998, which has a portfolio of global clients including MTV, JWT, Unilever, ESPN, HP, JJVC and Microsoft, Pitney Bowes Inc., Dell Inc, Intuit and Greenberg Research.  Her projects have led her to study the impact of technology in rural markets, follow trend-setting youth in urban settings, dig deep into motivations and possible triggers across a wide range of demographic and psychographic groups, explore and identify underlying value propositions and key drivers/barriers in several categories.

Her personal blog is Conversations with Dina. From 2003, she has contributed to building several communities on the internet, such as Worldchanging, Tsunami Help, KatrinaHelp, Asia Quake Help, SkypeJournal. Her efforts have been acknowledged worldwide.

Dina is a heavy user and observer of how people are interacting with digital tools and social media, and the impact it has on their lives and identities  - she’s likes to call herself a “netnographer” and believes that the best way to learn is by doing and experiencing through auto-ethnography!

Dina is among India’s best-known bloggers and social media observers, and is on the Advisory Board of Global Voices Online and a Sub-Board Member of the Information Program at Open Society Institute.

Presenter and Speaker: on Social Tools in Research and Collaboration – Reboot 7 in Copenhagen in June 2005, and at EPIC 2005 in Seattle in November 2005.  Presented a paper on Mobile Spaces at Microsoft Research’s Social Computing Summit in Seattle in May 2006and was at BlogHer 2006 in San Jose in July, where I was on a panel discussion about developing grassroots Communities around Social Tools. Was a facilitator of the Open Publishing stream at AsiaSource 2 in Indonesia in Jan 2007, and was invited to be on a panel discussing Trust in Social Networks and what it means for our societies, at the Women’s Forum at Deauville, France in October 2007.
